YWCA announces new board members

BREMERTON — The YWCA of Kitsap County announced the election of new board members during a Jan. 16 meeting.

Executive Director Linda K. Joyce said the new board members are Robert Forbes, Wendy A. Miles, Gary Simpson and Ramon (Ray) Garrido.

Forbes is a community volunteer and former Bremerton police chief, Miles is a strategic planning manager for the Keyport Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Simpson is a Kitsap County deputy sheriff, and Garrido is a web developer andowner of a consulting business.

The four new members will join current board members: Sharon Fields, Group Health Cooperative, Oletha Carter-James, DSHS; Harriette Bryant, community volunteer; Janet Hobson, Kitsap Bank; Reshondra McInnis, Lockheed Martin; Gina Regynski, DON-NUWC Keyport; Jessica Borrelli, PSNS IMF; Shawntell Bradford, Teletech; Jeannee Renee Brown, Jeannee Renee Salon; Wilma Calantas, Kitsap Community Resources; Jessica Guidry, Kitsap County Health District; Erin Jennings, Windmill Writing, LLC; Kristina Komar, Lockheed Martin; Mitzy Marrero, Wells Fargo Bank; Julie Poston, Rejuv Spa and Massage; and DeAndrea Williams, Bremerton Housing Authority.

Fields is the board president.

The YWCA of Kitsap County provides temporary-emergency housing, transitional housing, and advocacy support for survivors of domestic violence and their children. YWCA Programs include: the ALIVE Shelter, ALIVE Legal Advocacy, ALIVE Bainbridge Island/North Kitsap, ALIVE Family Services, HomePlus, and ALIVE/DSHS WorkFirst.

Annually, over 6,000 women, men, and children access YWCA programs. The YWCA Community Center is located at 905 Pacific Avenue, Bremerton.
