Port Orchard Staples open for business

"The intersection of Bethel and Lund Avenues has taken on a more business-like appearance this month with the grand opening of the Staples office prodcucts store. We started construction in January, said Jennifer Rosenberg, Staples public relations manager. The national chain chose the location at the northeast corner of the intersection because of the heavy traffic volumes - as did Office Depot, which operates a store just across Lund. But Rosenberg said the company welcomes competition.Certainly they sell what we sell, she said. But when we go into a location ,we take that into account. Rosenberg said the company has its own in-house real estate consultant who analyzes prospective locations and decides whether or not to put a store on a particular piece of property. They tell us whether or not we will generate enough business in the area, Rosenberg said.Staples specializes in brand-name products for businesses and home offices, including supplies, furniture, small business machines, computers and peripherals. It also features a full-service copy center and FedEx Shipsite services. You can photocopy or photo document items, Rosenberg said, and you can pick them up or have them delivered. Also, families can take advantage of Staples for school supplies as well as products designed to help with family finances, tax preparation, computing and organizing. Rosenburg said, We employ 30 to 35 associates, who are either full- or part-time employees. The company offers a 100 percent customer guarantee on products, and if you can find an identical price than Staples on any product within 14 days of your purchase, they will match the price. However, the product must be in stock and available for Staples to purchase from the competitor. Staples mission statement is slashing the costs and hassle of running your office. We try to offer products and services at the lowest price possible, Rosenberg said. Staples also works with other venders to make prices affordable. Staple's has 24,000 stores in the United States, Canada, Germany and the United Kingdom. Natalie Hunt is a news intern. "
