Cedar Creek Animal Clinic open for business
With the closing of a local veterinary business, it gave the opportunity for another to open.
Cedar Creek Animal Clinic, located at 2950 Mile Hill Dr., opened June 17. They opened in the former location of the offices of the Port Orchard Independent.
Cedar Creek Animal Clinic is one of the last of a few truly family operated veterinary businesses.
A chain of events led to Cedar Creek Animal Clinic opening.
After 30 years of serving animals in the South Kitsap community, employees of Bethel Animal Hospital were told the business would be closing. Despite a full schedule and a thriving practice, financial concerns related to the economy and recent upgrades/expansion of the facility were too heavy of a burden to carry.
Learning of the plight of Bethel Animal Hospital, Dr. Kristin Kelsey, who was an associate at Bethel for 13 years, and her husband, equine veterinarian, Dr. Mike Alberts elected to open the new animal clinic.
They created Cedar Creek Animal Clinic in order to preserve the skill and compassion of the staff at Bethel, a tight knit group of individuals who are dedicated to their profession and patients and who have years of experience in the field.
In addition, the patient centered heart of the former practice will be preserved as will the many long-term and loyal relationships that have been established with owners/clients and their pets.
Joining the couple is Dr. Jim Wempe, former owner of Bethel Animal Hospital, and Dr. Tomoko Kiyonaga, who will continue to care for the small animal patients.
