Henry (Hank) Borys Aug. 20, 1928 - Sept. 25, 2014 Hank Borys, 86, of Mukilteo, Washington fought a courageous battle with heart and kidney disease and passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Hank was the first born of Henry and Mary (Mitchell) Borys of Utica, New York, and is survived by his sisters, Marie (Don) Coro and Virginia (Bill) Chasey. Hank was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronnie (Joyce) Borys. A devoted husband to his wife, Dolores (Pucine), for 63 years, he is survived by his wife and 4 children: sons, Henry J. (Keesha) Borys, Mark (Vic) Borys, and daughters, Christine Borys and Gina (Terry) Key. He has 14 beloved grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Christmas Eve was a favorite in the Borys home as the entire family celebrated the Polish tradition of sharing the blessed Oplatek (wafer) honoring Hank's heritage, and enjoying delicious Italian food lovingly prepared by his gifted wife, Dolores. In 1946, he enlisted in the Army and enjoyed his assignment in Japan looking for MIA Americans, which allowed him to see the country and meet the people. Hank graduated from Cornell University in 1952 with a B.S. degree in Industrial and Labor Relations. His education served him well during his 35-year career with GTE. He moved up the ladder and across the country as GTE grew, improving relations between management and the unions, successfully avoiding strikes during his career. In 1965 Hank was transferred to GTE in Everett as V.P. of Personnel. He earned the respect and admiration of his fellow employees. He was a champion for self-development and training and taught management classes through City University at Edmonds Community College. He was very involved in his local church, St. John Mission in Mukilteo. He loved playing golf and cards at the Everett Golf & Country Club with friends and colleagues. He and Dolores took home the "Couples" tournament trophy 3 times during their 47-year membership and he served on their Board of Directors. A true public servant, Hank served on the Board for Puget Sound Kidney Centers, was President of the Everett Chamber of Commerce, and worked hard to establish the new Sno-Isle Mukilteo Library. He is remembered by his four adult children in the following words: Henry My dad loved philosophical conversations, especially about his "three C's," the driving vision of his life's work in business. Christianity - treat people with love, humanity, and respect, as you would want to be treated; Country - the foundation for our freedoms and our obligation to give back to that foundation; and Capitalism - when based on the first two C's, generates the healthiest, most dynamic economy, but when it strays from these, becomes destructive. His...
