Port completes Phase One of Cross-SKIA Connector Road
By KAITLIN STROHSCHEIN
The Port of Bremerton plans to finish the first phase of the Cross-SKIA Connector Road late this week. So far, it leads to one business that’s open, and another that’s under construction. Construction costs for this part of the project came to $2 million, and construction management and testing services with Parametrix cost another $388,499. Federal stimulus funding paid for the construction of the first portion of the road. Eventually, the road will connect other businesses on SKIA properties with State Route 3 near the Bremerton National Airport and Old Clifton Road in Port Orchard. The Port of Bremerton plans to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the first phase of the project at 2 p.m. on Oct. 26 at the Defiance Boats Showroom at the SKIA Road.
