Thieves make off with copper wire from McCormick Woods property
By KAITLIN STROHSCHEIN
Someone stole 2,000 to 3,000 feet of phone wire from a development site at Kenmore Court and McCormick Woods Drive. Qwest ran the wire through a ditch to each of the 14 new home sites on Saturday night. The next morning, Mark Lukkasson, the site manager, arrived and discovered someone had pulled the wires out and taken them, according to the police report. “This might hold us up a couple of days because that wire came out of California,” said Lukkasson. “We’ll have to wait to get the rest of the utilities.” The wire holds little value for its intended usage, he said, but the thief will probably burn it down and sell the copper. “It’s not something they’re stealing to re-use,” he said. “It’s something they’re stealing to sell as scrap.” So keep your comments: We ask that all participants own their words by logging in with their Facebook account.
