The seventh annual Back to School Celebration drew a throng of families to the track at South Kitsap High School on Saturday.

Under a bright blue sky on one of the warmest days this summer, thousands of people milled around the event, where everything from haircuts to hot dogs, school supplies to immunizations for children was offered ... and all for free, thanks to generous donations from the community.

Parents and students were able to get information about all the schools in the South Kitsap School District, as well as about a range of youth activities from Boy Scouts to karate classes.

There were also fun diversions such as a dunk tank where local educators frequently took the plunge.

The 2011-12 school year begins Sept. 7.
