Severe weather shelter for homeless to stay open through weekend
December 1, 2011 · Updated 5:43 PM
Kitsap County's severe weather shelter for the homeless will open nightly until Monday in anticipation of freezing temperatures.
The shelter was slated to run only through Thursday night, but ongoing conditions mean operations will continue through the weekend.
Located at the Bremerton Food Line at 1600 12th St. in Bremerton, the shelter will open each night from 6 p.m. until 7 a.m. Guests are not admitted after 9 p.m.
The free severe weather shelter is contingent on weather predictions, and will open throughout the winter as conditions merit. The shelter operates under the county's Department of Emergency Management.
