February 6, 2012 · 5:12 PM

Nominations are being accepted for Quest, South Kitsap School District’s program for academically talented students.

Students in grades 2-8 who currently reside in the South Kitsap service area are eligible for testing.

If you would like to nominate a student for testing or would like more information about the program, check at www.skitsap.wednet.edu and navigate under “Student Learning” to “Quest – Highly Capable.”

You may also contact the Quest program at Hidden Creek Elementary School at (360) 443-3099.

The deadline for accepting nominations is March 2.

All nominated students are given a Cognitive Abilities Test, which will be in late April or early May.

The test gives a general indication of a student’s abilities in three areas:  verbal (language), quantitative (mathematics) and figural (spatial relationships).

Students who qualify in at least one of these areas will continue to the next round of testing. Qualifying students in all grades are given an individual intelligence test which will be administered in late June.

The test results are then evaluated and students are selected for the program.
