Where is the Skate park? | Letter

Where is it? Starting in October 2007, park department meetings were held, and subsequently funds were made available in 2008, for the completion of the first phase of a skate park for South Kitsap Park. The community, through hard work and diligence, raised over a hundred thousand dollars to assist in the build.

What happened? Where is it? Going on five years nothing but empty promises and hollow excuses for delay by the parks department, local commissioners and legislators. This spring was to be the beginning of the build, finally.  I recently walked the proposed area, and nothing, nary a surveyors’ stake.

I travel a bridge that was torn down and rebuilt in less than a year, and yet the parks department has yet to start the first phase of the South Kitsap Skate Park build after over four years. Why the stonewalling? Are these funds needed to build the tree houses in the new park at McCormick Woods?
