Fathoms o' Fun officials release names of parade winners

Fathoms o' Fun Festival officials released the names of 2013 Grand Parade winners.

The Grand Sweepstakes Award was presented to Just for Kicks School of Dance. To be eligible for the award, an entry must have been judged “best” in a parade category — all other units in Grand Sweepstakes winner’s category move up one place in awards.

This year’s winners for the Community Festival Float Awards, which were prejudged at 4 p.m. Saturday and awards presented at the starting point of the parade, were:

• Sweepstakes: Sequim Irrigation Festival Float

• President’s: Daffodil Festival Float

• Mayor’s: Marysville Strawberry Festival

• Queen’s: Mason County Forest Festival Float

• Festival: Port Townsend Rhododendron Float

• Princess: West Seattle Hi Yu Festival Float

• Spirit Award: Clallam County Fair Festival

• Judge’s: Joyce Daze Royalty and Float

• Director’s: Forks Old Fashioned Fourth Festival Float

• Appreciation Awards: Tenino Motorcycle Drill Team; Leos Towing, Inc.; Grand Parade Sponsor Columbia Bank; Wave Broadband – Fathoms O’ Fun July 4th Fireworks Sponsor; 133d Army Band of Washington National Guard; 2013 Parade Honored Grand Marshall Bruce Crandall; 1964 Chevrolet Impala Convertibles – Gomez; and South Kitsap School District Units

Winners in the following categories were judged as they passed the review stand:

• Antique, Classic, Custom Vehicles-Individual — Best: 1928 Model A Ford Sports Coupe – Jerry Locke; Second: 1925 Ford Model T Touring – Ebbert.

• Car Clubs — Best: Saints Car Club; Second: Kitsap Mustang Club; Third: Glass Odessey Corvette Club

• Commercial Entries — Best: Tulalip Resort Casino Float; Second: Kitsap Bank; Third: Billy the Steer – The Mattress Ranch

• Commercial Entries (First Year) — Best: DJ Joe Frank; Second: CalPortland

• Dance and Gymnastics: Best: Synergy Dance Co./Academy of Dance; Second: Elite Dance Studio

• Drill Teams — Best: Jagzz Hi-Steppers Drill Team and Drum Line; Second: Elegance Drill Team Lady’s and Drum Line; Third: Washington Diamonds Drill Team

• Drum Lines — Best: 30A Fusion Drum Line

• Equestrian — Best: Tacoma Lariettes

• Fraternal — Best: Fil-Am Assoc. Golden Jubilee Homecoming Queen

• Military and Veterans Groups — Best: Bremerton Base, U.S. Submarine Veterans; Second: U.S. Submarine Veterans of the Olympic Peninsula

• Religious Groups — Best: Crista Camps; Second: Bethany Lutheran Church

• Service (Non-Profits Units) — Best: Kitsap Foster Care; Second: Port Orchard Library; Third: Kitsap Humane Society

• Specialties — Best: Kitsap Destruction Derby; Second: Goldwing Riders

• Visiting Royalty (without festival floats or horses) — Best: Miss Katie Kitsap 2013; Second: Miss Viking Fest & Little Miss Viking Fest; Third: Miss American Rose Royalty

• Youth Groups — Best: Kitsap Derby Brats; Second: Cub Scout Pack 4526; Third: Cub Scout Pack 4523

Serving as judges were Dave Jeffcoat, vice president and regional manager for Kitsap Bank; Bobbie Stewart, owner of Old Central Antique Mall; and Lance Fong, general manger at Trophy Lake Golf and Casting.

The parade will be televised at noon Sunday, July 7, by Westsound Television and on BCAT – Wave, or catch it on Signalcast on the internet.
