Prather is new principal at Manchester school

South Kitsap School District Superintendent Michelle Reid announced that Theressa Prather will replace A.J. Callan as principal at Manchester Elementary School.

Callan, who has been principal since 1998, is retiring at the end of the school year.

Prather, who will begin her new role on July 1, is assistant principal at Chautauqua Elementary School in the Vashon Island School District.

Before going to Vashon, she worked as a classroom teacher for 23 years and also completed an administrative internship at Artondale Elementary in the Peninsula School District.

She has her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from University of Puget Sound and her master’s degree in curriculum and instruction.

Prather also earned her National Board Certification in 2007.
