Three SKHS seniors receive Naval appointments

Brian Hawkins, the Blue and Gold Officer for South Kitsap High School, presented U.S. Naval Academy appointments to seniors Ervin Anies, Logan Knowles, and Cody Pendleton on May 28 at Laurels Night.

The appointments are each equivalent to a full four-year scholarship including tuition, room and board, medical and dental benefits, and a monthly midshipman salary.

After completing the four-year curriculum at the Naval Academy, the students will receive Bachelor of Science degrees in one of 25 majors and earn a commission as an officer in the Navy or Marine Corps.

Pendleton received a U.S. Naval Academy Foundation Scholarship. He will attend a preparatory school for one year before entering the Naval Academy, while Anies and Knowles will head straight to the Academy.
