Car show, festival could attract 20,000
Downtown Port Orchard could see more than 20,000 people attending the 27th annual Saints Car Club Cruz and Festival By The Bay, hosted by Fathoms o’ Fun.
Fathoms Event Director Bob Morehouse said more than 60 vendors are scheduled for this year’s festival.
“There should be about 20 new vendors this year.” said Morehouse. “All of the vendors will be setup from 6-8 p.m.”
Morehouse said Bay Street, from Cline to Harrison, will be closed off to vehicles from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Food, crafts, a pony rides, sale and informational booths, along with activities and games will be on Bay Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Last year, more than 500 classic cars and trucks rolled into the downtown area. The classics will be lined up on the waterfront parking lot and along the northern portion of Frederick and Sidney avenues, off Bay Street.
Ron Weeks, of the Saints Car Club, said there will be shuttle available by Kitsap Transit from the National Guard Armory on Mile Hill Drive to Peninsula Feed on Harrison, and from the Kitsap County Courthouse to Port Orchard City Hall. The shuttles will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
On Aug. 9, from 5-7 p.m., the seventh annual Mopar CackleFest will be held in the Hi-Joy Bowl parking lot on Bethel Road. The cars will start their engine at 7 p.m. Free hot dogs and beverages will be served, also.
Individuals can bowl a game and rent shoes for $1 each.
