To downtown Port Orchard’s eclectic mix of unique shops and eateries, you can now add Melinda’s.

Melinda’s is a clock repair, antique, and gift shop that also offers garden and home decor.

In addition, the shop will showcase local artists.

An artist herself, owner Melinda Brown finally got the chance to realize her dream of owning her own shop. “This was a year in the making,” Brown said. “I had to postpone the opening of the store for a year due to an illness in the family.”

Mayor Lary Coppola was on hand for the ribbon-cutting ceremony and to officially welcome the business to the city.

“I am very glad Melinda and Shane are here,” he said. “It gives people another great reason to shop in downtown Port Orchard.”

Shane Makoviney, co-owner and clock repairman, greeted guests and answered questions about the new business.

“We will be open for business on Saturday, May 1,” he said, “which will coincide with the opening of boating season.”

Melinda’s is located at 810 Bay Street and hours of operation are Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
