Sound Publishing acquires Olympic View Publishing

Sound Publishing Inc., the Poulsbo-based company that publishes the Port Orchard Independent and other community newspapers in the Puget Sound area, has purchased Olympic View Publishing Co.
Sequim-based Olympic View's publications include two newspapers in Clallam County, the Sequim Gazette and the Forks Forum. The company also produces two real estate magazines, Olympic Peninsula Homes-Land Magazine and Islander Homes-Land Magazine distributed in Island and San Juan counties.
Sound Publishing is owned by Black Press, based in Victoria, British Columbia. Sound Publishing in the largest community newspaper group in Washington, with 46 publications that have a total circulation of 732,700. In Kitsap County, Sound Publishing owns the Independent, the Central Kitsap Reporter, the Bremerton Patriot, Kitsap Navy News, the North Kitsap Reporter and the Bainbridge Island Review.
"We are thrilled with the purchase of the Sequim Gazette," Black Press CEO David Black said. "We have been publishing community newspapers for 22 years in Washington state and see this as an opportunity to expand our operations to the North Olympic Peninsula, which is a good geographical fit with our other newspapers and website titles."
