Wall takes big lead in school-board race
November 8, 2011 · 10:33 PM
Port Orchard attorney Gregory Wall appears poised to become the newest addition to South Kitsap School District’s board of directors. As of 8:03 p.m. Tuesday, Wall had 6,111 votes to 4,882 for J. Adele Macomber LaCombe. Both were running for the vacant District 5 school board position, which encompasses Sidney, McCormick Woods, Burley and Olalla. A 1978 graduate of Gonzaga University School of Law, Wall handles a variety of litigation with an emphasis on civil cases. Wall, 61, said he long has been interested in educational policy. He previously was involved with the Instructional Materials Committee and has campaigned for the passage of levies. Wall and his wife, Shirley, who assists students with reading and math at East Port Orchard Elementary, have lived in South Kitsap for more than 30 years. Kitsap County elections officials do not plan to release updated results until Wednesday afternoon. But if the vote holds, Wall would fill a seat that has been vacant since Jay Rosapepe tendered his resignation at the June 1 school-board meeting. Rosapepe later was named SKSD’s transportation director.
