February 16, 2012 · 5:22 PM

SAFE Boats International recently delivered a fleet of six security boats to the Port of Greater Baton Rouge on the Mississippi River in Louisiana.

The 27-foot Walk Around Cabin fast-response and security boats will join the port’s Joint Task Force 7, founded as a counterterrorism force to protect vital infrastructure and commerce of the port and surrounding areas of the Mississippi River.

The boats were purchased through a Federal Emergency Management Agency Port Security Grant.

Based in the Port of Bremerton, SAFE Boats  employs about 300 people locally and has 1,600 boats in service worldwide.
