Kitsap County will mark National County Government Week by sponsoring essay, video and art competitions for local high school students.

“The purpose is to increase awareness about what county government does and to make it more accessible to the public,” said county spokesperson Sara Clements-Sampson, who is coordinating the program.

The competitions are open to all students in grades 9 through 12, attending public, private, and home schools in Kitsap County.

The submissions should promote or celebrate Kitsap County Government with the theme “My Kind of Kitsap: My Community, My Space.”

Entries must be submitted to Sara Clements-Sampson at the Kitsap County Commissioner’s Office by 4 p.m. April 18.
