A 67-year-old Port Orchard man was killed Sunday on State Route 16 when his car left the road and hit a tree, the Washington State Patrol reported.

According to the trooper investigating the scene, Michael R. Garietz was headed eastbound April 20 on SR-16 in a 1993 Ford Explorer around 4:30 p.m. when his car drifted off the right side of the road near Purdy and drove through heavy brush before eventually hitting a tree.
