Manchester candidates will gather
Manchester residents will have a chance to meet their candidates this Saturday at the Manchester branch of the Kitsap Regional Library.
The informal get-together comes in lieu of a formal debate moderated by the League of Women Voters.
The League was unable to work out an event without earlier notice, so Port Commissioner write-in candidate Ron Rada altered a personal campaign event into a larger community meeting.
The League of Women Voters requires a month to six weeks in advance to conduct a forum.
We decided, lets just open that date up to everybody, Rada said Monday.
The informal event will not include a debate or program. It will serve as a social gathering for residents to spend some time with each of the candidates before the election.
Refreshments will be provided, and all Manchester candidates and residents are welcome to come.
There are five positions on the ballot specific to Manchester residents this November. Gerald Preuss and Dusty Wiley are running unopposed for commissioner Positions 1 and 2 with the South Kitsap Fire and Rescue District; Mark Rebelowski and Steve Pedersen are running for Position 3 on the Port of Manchester; Dan Fallstrom and write-in candidate Ron Rada are running for Position 2 on the Port of Manchester; and James Strode and Brenda Petrick are running for Position 1 on the Manchester Water District.
The event is set for Oct. 13, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Manchester branch of the Kitsap Regional Library, 8067 East Main.
