Community Relations administrators Aimee Warthen and Suzie Butler presented the South Kitsap School District’s new website to the school board Wednesday evening.

“You asked for it, you got it,” Warthen said to the board Wednesday.

The revamped website improves on a number of technical features on the front and back ends of the websites, Butler explained. Teachers and schools will have an easier time customizing websites for schools and individual classes, and parents should have easier access to information about their students’ classes.

The front page lists most recent news events, and can be changed easily for urgent situations. Thursday, the front page of the district website prominently displayed updates on the Manchester Elementary School closure, explaining when the school would be open again.

The website includes a customizable calendar for parents. By using the filter options on the calendar, parents can narrow down calendar items based on which schools their children attend.

The website offers greater ease for teachers to create and customize individual class websites, which can contain homework information, classroom policies and personal messages.

The site also includes automated photo galleries from district events.
