The South Kitsap School District is gearing up for the new school year, and what better way to start it off than a giant party?

The District is inviting students and families to attend the celebration at the South Kitsap High School track Saturday, August 18.

The event helps connect families in the District with the teachers and administrators. The party is part of the District’s on going effort of making family friendly schools.

The party has taken place for several years, but this year there will be booths for each school in the District, and a staff member from that school to meet with parents.

The event will involve games, free food and musical entertainment provided by District staff and students.

“It’s going to be a lot of fun for the people who put it on and the peopl who come,” Community Relations Assistant Susan Rosapepe said.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the South Kitsap track August 18.
