Crews have reduced Mile Hill Drive to one lane from Long Lake Road to Whittier Avenue this week to patch sections on the roadway, according to the Kitsap County Public Works Department.

Spokesman Doug Bear said drivers should expect “moderate delays of 10 minutes or so” as the “full-depth” patching continues through Friday.

“They are preparing it for eventual overlay later this summer,” Bear said, explaining that certain road sections often “degrade to the point where you have to cut them out” before repaving.

He said the paving work will probably begin in mid-August, since “we’ll try and get it wrapped up before the school season.”

The work is scheduled from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m., and flaggers and a pilot car will direct motorists through the area.
