A cat burglar has been prowling around a Langley City neighbourhood, breaking in or attempting to get into at least seven homes last week.

The homes were robbed in the area between 52 and 53 Avenue and 201 and 202 Street between Feb. 3 and Feb. 7.

“The culprit is preying on houses with patio windows or windows that can be easily opened,” said Langley RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Diane Blain.

The thief or thieves made off with wallets, cash, large amounts of jewelry, clothing and a bike.

Police have since put out extra patrols in the area and no other break-ins have occurred.

In each incident, the thief didn’t wake the sleeping victims.

Police ask people to make sure their doors and windows are secure before going to sleep and to activate alarm systems. For windows, add a stick or lock to make sure a burglar can’t gain access. Call 911 immediately if you hear something suspicious, said Blain.
