The word food conjures up different thoughts and memories for each of us. Do we stop to consider just how important our choices surrounding food are and the impacts of those choices?

Did you know that currently BC imports one-half of its food?

Have you considered how buying locally produced food supports our valley and saves the greenhouse gas emissions created from transporting our food?

Do you know what gleaning is?

Did you attend the Food Forum in Clearwater last February?

The North Thompson Food Coalition has been formed as a result of discussions held at the Forum.

If food and health are subjects that interest you then please consider attending the first meeting to be held in Barriere.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at the North Thompson Volunteer Centre, 4605 Barriere Town Road (just north of the fire hall). Doors open at 6 p.m. and this will be a pot luck meeting. Please bring a small dish with you.

For more information please call Susan Garland at 672-5103.
