Oliveaux takes over as editor

Dannie Oliveaux has been named as editor of the Port Orchard Independent.

This is his second stint with Sound Publishing. He worked as a reporter for the Bonney Lake-Sumner Courier Herald in 2009.

Before coming to the Independent, he worked as a reporter for the Omak-Okanogan County Chronicle.

Oliveaux also worked two years as sports writer/page designer for Country Media, Inc. in Tillamook, Ore.

He has more than 25 years in the newspapers industry, having worked as an editor and sports reporter at newspapers in Louisiana, Texas and Washington.

He is a native of Hebert, La., and attended the University of Louisiana-Monroe, majoring in photojournalism.
