Associated Planner Tom Bonsell was appointed acting development director to replace former Development Director James Weaver for the City of Port Orchard.
Mayor Tim Matthes made the announcement Jan. 7. Matthes said Bonsell will fill the position while the city recruits for a new development director.
Bonsell has worked with the City of Port Orchard since 2007.
Matthes said he is confident in Bonsell’s ability to manage the department and looks forward to working with him in this new role.
Weaver resigned from his position in December to become a building official with the City of Bainbridge Island beginning Jan. 16.
He began his career with Port Orchard in 2008 when he was hired by former mayor Lary Coppola. He had been a senior planner for Kitsap County prior to coming to Port Orchard.
