Sex offender arrested

A registered sex offender from South Kitsap remains in the Kitsap County Jail after two teenage boys, 15 and 17, reported the man propositioned them while they were hired to work for him.

Murray Eugene Fields, 47, was arrested Jan. 12 and charged two days later in Kitsap County District Court with communicating with minors for immoral purposes and fourth-degree assault with special allegation of sexual motivation. His bail was set at $250,000.

The alleged incidents, which happened in late last year, were reported to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office by the boys and their families on Saturday.

Fields, whose residence is listed in Tahuya, was convicted of attempted child molestation in 1989 in Maricopa County, Ariz.He is registered as a Level II offender.
