Special election ballots going out on Jan. 23

More than 42,270 ballots will be mailed out Wednesday, Jan. 23 to eligible voters in the South Kitsap School District for the Feb. 12 special election for the renewal $93.4 million levy.

All ballots must be postmarked by Feb. 12.

Election Manager Delores Gilmore said persons interested in participating in the special election have until Feb. 4 to register in person at the Kitsap County Auditor's Office, 619 Division St., in Port Orchard.

The four-year levy begins in 2014 withe 60 percent of the funding going to schools and 7 percent of the money will be dedicated to building renovations.

The levy would also help fund general support, building maintenance, technology and transportation.
