GIG HARBOR — A citizens advisory committee meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 5, will allow the public to weigh in about the toll increase on the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. The meeting is 6-8 p.m. at the Gig Harbor Civic Center, 3510 Grandview St.

At a recent meeting, Washington State Transportation Commission meeting presented different polling projections. Current rates are $4 for electronic stickers, $5 at toll booths and $6 for pay-by-mail.

There is a possible 50 cent increase that could take effect July 1.If tolls are not increases, state-required reserve fund of 12.5 percent would slip to 11.3 in 2014 and 4.1 in 2015.

State law also requires that toll revenues cover financing, operations, maintenance, management and repairs.

Another meeting is set for Feb. 19 and March 12, if needed. A public hearing would be set by the Transportation Commission to adopt the toll increase.
