Foot ferry floats free

The Kitsap Transit Foot Ferry between Bremerton and Port Orchard is operating free on weekends now through Oct. 12 for the Farmer's Market Season. From the start of service Saturday until the end of service Sunday, riders will be able to board free of charge.

It will also be free for the following community events:

- Weekday evenings starting at 5:15 p.m. for Fathoms O' Fun June 26 thru July 3 and all day July 4.

- Thursday afternoons starting at 3:30 p.m. for both the Bremerton Farmer's Market and Port Orchard's Concerts by the Bay - May 15 thru Oct. 12.

- Friday evenings starting at 5:15 p.m. for Bremerton's Concerts on the Boardwalk - July 11 thru August 1.

- All day Aug. 20 - 24, for the Kitsap County Fair.

- All day Sept. 1, for the Blackberry Festival.
