Investigation continues into voyeurism incident

Port Orchard police are still investigating a report of an alleged voyeurism incident Feb. 23 in a restroom at the Fred Meyer store in Port Orchard.

Police Commander Geoffrey Marti said the case is “still under investigation and no charges have been filed.”

The case involves an 11-year-old boy who reported to his mother that someone put a cell phone under stall in the restroom while he was using the urinal. The boy said he heard a 'click' sound from the cellphone.

Marti said police, using surveillance cameras from inside the store, identified a Port Orchard man who was seen leaving the restroom and left the store.

“We were glad to identify the principal party in the case,” Marti said. “There wasn't enough evidence to charge the suspect.”

The man was cooperative with the investigation and told police he was in the restroom, but denied any criminal activity. Marti said no inappropriate photographs were found on the phone, but it could have been erased.
