A 28-year-old Port Orchard woman was cited Thursday afternoon after her car rear-ended a vehicle driven by the Port Orchard police chief near downtown, the Washington State Patrol reported.

According to the incident report filed by the trooper, the woman was driving her 1999 Nissan Sentra north on Rockwell Avenue toward Bay Street shortly after 1 p.m. when she failed to stop and struck the 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by POPD Chief Al Townsend and stopped at the intersection.

Townsend, 42, was uninjured, while his passenger, POPD Com-mander Geoff Marti, 49, declined aid for a sore neck and back.

The woman was cited for failure to stop.
