"Authorities said speed was a factor in a one-car accident that killed a 20-year-old Port Orchard man early Wednesday morning on Olney Avenue.Kitsap County Sheriff deputies found a Ford Probe driven by David Haynes smashed against a tree near the Veterans Home Cemetery shortly after 3 a.m.Haynes, the only occupant of the car, was dead at the scene, deputies said.Investigators said Haynes was driving north on Olney between 1 and 1:30 a.m. and apparently couldnt negotiate a tight curve near the cemetery. The car drifted over the center lane and sideswiped the cemeterys rock wall and continued northbound for at least 100 feet before going over an embankment, striking a large tree. The accident was still under investigation Thursday. A toxicology report and an autopsy had not been completed. The lower half of Olney Avenue was closed to traffic for at least six hours during on-the-scene investigating."
