"A 14-year-old Cedar Heights Junior High student has been charged with a count of indecent liberties and three counts of fourth degree assault with sexual motivation for allegedly harassing several female students.A case setting hearing for the teen has been scheduled for Dec. 11.Five girls reported to Cedar Heights Junior High administrators Nov. 21 that the teen repeatedly grabbed their breasts and behinds, poked them with his hands and fingers and pressed against them, imitating intercourse and achieving arousal. They also alleged the teen made lewd suggestions and requests during school.School resource officer Robert McFann said the staff and administration at Cedar Heights responded quickly to the allegations. They wasted no time identifying the problem right off the bat and notifying me right off the bat, he said.McFann interviewed the five girls, who described the incidents and said they occurred at school during class or in the hallway. They maintained they repeatedly told the teen to stop and to leave them alone, even moving away from him during class, but said he continued harassing them. The girls said they didn't tell school administrators sooner because they hoped he would just stop.McFann said the girls might have been scared to report the harassment sooner for fear of retaliation or harm to their reputations. If you report it, people are going to say, 'You told,' he said. To a 12-year-old or a 13-year-old, they're still at that age. They look at their reputation. At 12 and 13, they're just forming social structures. He added some might have feared the teen would harass them had administrators not responded quickly. Some were scared to tell ... scared he was going to haunt them, he said. School district personnel cannot comment on whether students are suspended or expelled for disciplinary problems, but all district policies regarding sexual harassment and disciplinary procedures have been followed, said school district spokeswoman Aimee Warthen. The arrest comes just weeks after a Sedgwick Junior High teen was arrested for assault and indecent liberties after several girls alleged he harassed them during school. His case has not yet gone to trial. "
