In the ensuing struggle, the trooper suffered a gunshot wound to his hand as well as a bite on the wrist. The female passenger was shot and died at the scene. Investigators were trying to determine how many bullets were fired. The only other passenger in the vehicle, a 5-year-old girl, was taken into Child Protective Services by officers at the scene. As of Friday morning, the Washington State Patrol still had not released the name of either the trooper, the deceased or the driver. The injured 32-year-old trooper was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, where a WSP spokesman said his wounds were not life-threatening.He was scheduled to be released from the hospital around noon on Friday. The incident is still under investigation and authorities could offer no explanation for why the victim decided to pull a gun on the trooper. The trooper will be placed on administrative leave pending a review of the incident by WSP authorities.
