A 21-year-old Tacoma man was severely injured after losing control of his car on Mile Hill Drive near Long Lake Road Friday night, according to the Washington State Patrol.
According to the WSP, the man was driving a 1990 Toyota Corolla eastbound on Mile Hill Drive when he attempted to pass a vehicle traveling in the lane in front of him.
He successfully passed the vehicle and returned to the lane ahead of it, but shortly afterward lost control of his vehicle and it left the road, rolling once before coming to a rest on the right side of the road.
The driver was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with severe injuries.
His passenger, a 21-year-old Port Orchard man, was transported to Tacoma General Hospital.
Both men were wearing their seatbelts.
The car was totaled.
