South Kitsap Commissioner Jan Angel underwent emergency surgery for the removal of her gall bladder Tuesday night, after she had what aides described as “an uncomfortable weekend.”

The surgery took place at Harrison Hospital. Angel was discharged early Wednesday afternoon and spent the rest of the week recuperating.

As of Thursday, it was uncertain whether Angel would attend Monday’s regular Board of Commissioners meeting.

Angel had already scheduled the surgery for July 25, but her doctors decided to perform the operation due to her increased discomfort.

Angel won her second four-year term last year.
