A Port Orchard man was injured in a three-car accident Wednesday near Port Angeles that left three people dead, according to the Washington State Patrol.

The crash occurred shortly before 5 p.m. on State Route 101 when a 48-year-old Port Angeles man driving a 1987 Buick LeSabre eastbound crossed the centerline and struck a 1974 Ford pick-up truck driven by a 45-year-old Olympia man.

After being struck in the driver’s side tire, the truck veered into the oncoming traffic, which included a truck with semi-trailer.

The driver of the truck, a 45-year-old Belfair man, attempted to swerve to miss the truck, but rolled and collided with it, pushing it into a ditch.

His passenger, a 28-year-old Port Orchard man, was transported to Olympic Memorial Hospital with a sore neck.

All three passengers of the pick-up truck died at the scene. They included the driver, a 45-year-old Olympia resident, and his passengers, two 21-year-old Port Angeles men.

The driver of the Buick suffered a gash to his left arm and was transported to Olympic Memorial Hospital. Possible vehicular homicide charges are pending.

His two passengers — a 44-year-old Port Angeles woman and an 8-year-old boy —were uninjured.
