South Kitsap gets sweet and spooky for Halloween
June 12, 2008 · Updated 12:36 PM
This year, Halloween will be celebrated in South Kitsap with both some well-loved favorites, and a few new additions to the fun.
In Port Orchard, Kitsap Countys Facilities, Parks and Recreation Department is holding its 13th-straight Family Fun day at Givens Community Center.
Free games, prizes and plenty of candy will be offered to young kids and their parents early Halloween night.
Further east, the South Kitsap Community Park will be running its annual Ghost Train again tonight, offering (slightly) spooky scenes and refreshments for young and old.
In Manchester, the library hosts a very un-scary event for youngsters and their parents who would like to celebrate the day in a very family-friendly way.
For those whose tastes lean to the spookier side, Kitsap County is also hosting its annual Haunted Barn at the fairgrounds in Bremerton, with a theme this year of Fairy Tales Gone Wrong.
New this year is another event in Bremerton on the USS Turner Joy Museum Ship. Organizers call it the Haunted Ship, and advise it is not appropriate for children under 8.
It will also feature entertainment by Puget Sound Pirates, a Port-Orchard based group.
