PO men arrested in hotel robbery

At least two Port Orchard men were arrested on Wednesday night for breaking into a woman’s hotel room and robbing her, according to the Port Orchard Police Department.

According to the report, the incident began shortly before 5 p.m. when a 911-hang-up call was received from a room at the Comfort Inn on Bay Street. Emergency dispatchers later described the incident as a possible domestic violence altercation.

When POPD officers arrived on the scene, they found the alleged victim, a 19-year-old Port Orchard woman, crying in the parking lot. Nearby were two suspects — a 20-year-old Des Moines man and a 21-year-old Port Orchard man.

While investigating the scene, the officer noted that the 21-year-old appeared anxious to flee, then stepped behind a nearby vehicle.

When asked repeatedly to show his hands, the suspect reportedly did not comply, and fearing he was reaching for a weapon, the officer wrote that he tased the suspect to detain him.

The suspect was then arrested, and medical aid was summoned to treat him, removing taser prongs that had struck the suspect in the genitals. After treatment, he was booked into Kitsap County Jail for second-degree burglary, third-degree theft and obstruction.

The 20-year-old Des Moines man was released.

Two hours later, however, another 911 call was made from the same hotel room, and officers returned.

The 19-year-old victim reported that the suspect released earlier, the 20-year-old Des Moines man, had returned, breaking into her hotel room with four other people and robbing her.

Witnesses said the suspect had knocked on the victim’s door, then grabbed her around the neck and pushed her back inside when she opened it. She said the suspects took her money and left.

Officers later located the suspect — along with a 22-year-old Port Orchard man — at the intersection of Sidney Avenue and Tremont Street. They arrested him for second-degree robbery and three drug charges, after allegedly finding eight buds of marijuana, methamphetamine and various items of drug paraphernalia in his car.

The third suspect, the 22-year-old Port Orchard man, was later arrested after contacting police to tell his side of the story.

He said the victim had been staying at his house, but recently moved out and allegedly stole some items from his home. He said he went to her hotel just to talk to her, and that the four other people had just come along.

He was then arrested for second-degree robbery, and booked into Kitsap County Jail.
