Road failure closes SR 3 to all traffic
June 12, 2008 · Updated 12:57 PM
A portion of State Route 3 just north of Shelton was closed to all traffic Friday morning as Washington State Department of Transportation crews repaired a sinkhole in the northbound lane.
WSDOT was alerted about the hole earlier this week and dispatched geotechs, who inspected the 10-foot wide by 25-foot deep cavity beneath the northbound lanes.
Until Wednesday, both lanes of SR-3 will be closed to all traffic and motorists.
Vehicles will detour using Johns Prairie Road; those on US-101 will exit at the Wallace-Kneeland Boulevard (exit 345), and follow past Wal-Mart and Shelton High School.
Motorists will continue through the Brockdale Intersection, at which point Wallace-Kneeland Boulevard becomes Johns Prairie Road, and continue to State Route 3.
