The Kitsap County Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of a fire that partially destroyed a home in the 4400 block of Sunshine Glen Court SW around 2:23 p.m. on March 14.

South Kitsap Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Guy Dalrymple said the homeowner called and said the fire was on the second floor of his home and her could hear ammunition exploding in the fire.

Dalrymple said one unit from Glenwood Station arrived at the scene first and immediately attacked the fire from the outside until other firefighters arrived to battle the blaze from the inside.

No ammunition was heard to explode by SKFR firefighters and the homeowner indicated that none of the firearms in the home were stored loaded.

Dalrymple said there was no one at home when the fire began and that the homeowner discovered the fire when he returned from the post office.

The homeowner was able to coax some of his dogs outside, but one remained inside. After the fire was extinguished, firefighters inside ckecked to make sure everything was clear when

they found the dog hiding under a table that was covered with smoldering drapes.

The dog was unharmed.
