Port Orchard City Council to confirm new development director, police chief

The Port Orchard City Council will confirm the appointments for a new development director and a new police chief at its Tuesday, April 23 meeting at City Hall, 216 Prospect St.

Council will vote to approve Nicholas Bond as development director, effective May 13 and Geoffrey Marti as the police chief, effective May 4.

Bond replaces James Weaver who resigned in December to take a position with the City of Bainbridge. Tom Bonsell has filled in as acting development director until the new hire.

Marti, who is commander of the Port Orchard Police Department, will assume the duties left by Alan Townsend. Townsend accepted to become the new police chief in Poulsbo in March.

Other agenda items include:

• Approval of a $10,821 settlement New Cingular.

• Approval of a $341,444 agreement with Ron Hemley Septic Installations, Inc., for the 2013 McCormick STEP conversions.

• Approval of repayment of $10,090 to the state’s Recreation and Conservation Office regarding the Blackjack Wilderness Trail Project.

The Council meeting starts at 7 p.m.
