DISTRICT COURT | Man takes front door off rental home, faces trespassing charges

A 55-year-old man, who removed the front door of his rental house, was charged with first-degree criminal trespassing in Kitsap County District Court on May 3.

Charging papers stated that Robert D. Cullen, of Port Orchard, has a rental home on Victory Drive and the tenants were several months behind in paying rent.

Documents stated when the couple was gone from the home, Cullen removed the front door off its hinges and took the door home. When the couple returned, the woman reported $2,800 was missing from her bedroom safe.

Cullen admitted to Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office deputies he removed the door, but did not take any money. Further investigation found the story about the stolen money suspicious, stated court records.

Cullen was arrested May 2 and booked into jail. Bail was set at $7,500.

On May 6, District Court handed out charges against:

• Donald Leeroy McAplin, 44, of Port Orchard, for second-degree burglary for a May 3 break-in at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church on Mitchell Road.

• Michael Shane Moore, 41, of Burley, for fourth-degree assault stemming from an incident at his home May 4.

• Michael Dean Howe, 24, of South Colby, for first-degree driving while license revoked after a traffic stop on May 5 in South Colby.
