Kitsap County deputies recover skeleton, coffin from South Kitsap home

The Kitsap County Coroner’s Office is holding a human skeleton as King County deputies try to identify the remains as part of a homicide investigation.

Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office reported deputies join King County deputies confiscated the skeleton and a coffin May 2 at a home in the 6600 block of Banner Road.

Investigators discovered a man, who is a felon, lives in the home and sent photos of the skeleton to a prison inmate who was sentenced for a murder where the victim’s body was never found.

The skeleton is kept together with wires and screws.

A 43-year-old South Kitsap man told investigators he purchased the skeleton for $100. The skeleton’s previous owner told investigators that friends got him the skeleton for his 40th birthday.
