Man arrested after car crashes into utility pole

A 30-year-old Bremerton man was arrested for drunk driving after he sideswiped a utility pole on Olalla Valley Road.

According to a Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office report, the accident happened about 10:34 p.m. June 1. When they arrived on the scene, deputies reported they found a 1989 Volkswagen Jetta facing west on the eastbound shoulder of the road.

Deputies found the driver inside the car and bleeding from a cut on the back of his head, along with the odor of alcohol.

He also told deputies that he was traveling about 60 m.p.h. and lost control of his vehicle. The posted speed limit is 40 m.p.h.

The man took field sobriety tests, administered by deputies. Afterwards, he was taken to St. Anthony’s Hospital in Gig Harbor for treatment.
