A fire that broke out at Navy City Metals was quickly extinguished Monday afternoon, according to South Kitsap Fire and Rescue personnel on scene.

A firefighter said within five minutes of the first crews arriving, the flames were doused at the business, located at 3805 State Highway 3.

Kitsap County Sheriff’s Spokesman Deputy Scott Wilson said the fire was reported around 2:35 p.m.

As of 3:15 p.m., both State-Route 16 and 3 were open in both directions, with traffic slowed southbound on SR-3.
