A 58-year-old Port Orchard man was taken to an area hospital after his vehicle slammed into a tree on SE Lund Avenue near the South Kitsap Regional Park.

The accident happened about 12:30 p.m. today.

According to Deputy Scott Wilson, Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office spokesman, the man was transported by a South Kitsap Fire and Rescue medic unit to Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton for further evaluation and treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

He was driving a 1994 Lexus LS 400 sedan.

Wilson said it is unknown how the car hit the tree and that traffic deputies are still investigating the accident. He said the original report to 9-1-1 stated that the car hit a tree.
